SERVICES

Structural Design

From small repair projects to large building projects CRJ Services can help you acheive your goals.  We have a simple design philosophy at CRJ Services.  If we have not tried to use the materials to build something ourselves, how can we ask a construction professional to build it for us per our design.

Building Envelope Consulting & Forensic Engineering

There is a saying in the building envelope consulting field that states, "It is the clients that have suffered pain that understand why there is building envelope consulting".  I have personally felt this pain with the purchase of my first house in Bremerton, WA.

Structural Assessments & Inspections

Not all of the Structural Assessments & Inspections that CRJ Services has performed are related to buildings.  CRJ Services inspected the water slide at the Houston Fisher Memorial Pool for the Lake County YMCA.

ABOUT

CRJ Services, LLC. was started by Chris Jasinski in 2015.  At the inception of the company, CRJ Services was used to help Chris' friends, family, and the volunteer organizations he participated in.  In the spring of 2016 the company that Chris had been working for closed their doors unexpectedly and CRJ Services became Chris' primary source of employment.  At first, the survival of CRJ Services was questionable, but through Chris' hard work and his first clients that took a risk by working with him, the company began to grow.

Chris began his structural engineering career at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Pittsburgh after he graduated from the University at Buffalo with a Master's of Engineering degree in 2002.  While working for the Pittsburgh District, Chris had the opportunity to work on the Braddock Dam, the first dam that was constructed in a drydock and then floated to its permanent position up river.

As always, life has its surprises and the Corps had a reduction in staff and the next available federal structural engineering position was at the Pugent Sound Naval Shipyard in the State of Washington.  This is where Chris was first introduced to problems with improperly designed and maintained building envelopes both at home and at his work place.  This is also where Chris obtained his first professional engineering license.

The State of Washington was not a proper fit for the Jasinski family and an opportunity presented itself at Sargent & Lundy in Wilmington, Delaware.  Chris worked as a structural engineer in the nuclear power division of Sargent & Lundy.  In the nuclear industry there are only three ways to answer a question: "Yes, because...", "No, because...", or "I do not have the answer, but I will find out".  Chris has kept this philosophy and continues to use it for all of his clients.  As part of the nuclear division of Sargent & Lundy it was necessary to participate in refueling outages, which can last as long as 6 to 8 weeks at the various power plants.

The time requirments at Sargent & Lundy did not fit well with the want to grow the Jasinski Family, so Chris went back to working for the Corps of Engineers in Baltimore. While at the Baltimore District Chris was exposed to his first true historic structures with the Cabin Jon Bridge, which was built during the Civil War, and the Lusk Dam at West Point, which was built at the turn of the 20th Century.

Chris' first official introduction to forensic engineering was while he worked for Donan Engineering in Willoughby, OH.  Unfortunately, Donan did not offer design services so Chris moved on to Technical Assurance.  While at Technical Assurance Chris refined his building envelope consulting skills as the Director of Engineering and Building Envelope Commissioning.  When the owner of Technical Assurance decided to end offering engineering services, Chris moved on to Cristal.

While at Cristal, Chris used his skills as a structural engineer and his building envelope skills to help the company resolve some of their moisture issues.  The moisture issues they had been experienceing were causing significant corrosion of the steel framing for the buildings.  Due to a down turn in the titanium dioxide market, Chris was reassigned to the maintenance department where he wasn't able to use his skillset to its fullest.

In the early spring of 2016 Chris left Cristal to work for EDI Building Consultant as a structural/forensic/building envelope engineer.  However, after 3 months the owners of EDI decided to close its Cleveland Office.  This brings us to the start of CRJ Services, LLC.
